3D model of a steel trailer

From idea to manufacturing documentation – 3D model of a steel trailer

The image shows a 3D model of a steel chassis for a trailer. The model is used to clarify the structure’s design and the positioning of beams, crossmembers, drawbar beams, reinforcements and other important details before manufacturing begins. By developing the structure digitally, many potential issues can be identified before materials are ordered, cut or welded.

CC Metall AB helps companies, workshops, manufacturers and other clients with 3D modelling, technical CAD drawings and manufacturing documentation for steel structures and custom-made products. A 3D model of a steel trailer makes it easier to understand how the different parts of the structure are connected. It can be rotated and examined from several angles, providing a clearer view than a two-dimensional sketch alone.

What does the 3D model show?

The model shows the main steel frame of a trailer, including:

  • longitudinal frame beams

  • crossmembers

  • drawbar beams

  • reinforcements and diagonal braces

  • connections between the different parts of the frame

  • supports and mounting points

  • a central area for flooring, equipment or further bodywork

Why create a 3D model before manufacturing?

When a product is built directly from a simple hand-drawn sketch, there is a risk that important issues will not be discovered until the work reaches the workshop. These may include:

  • missing or unclear dimensions

  • profiles that interfere with one another

  • welds that are difficult to access

  • mounting points that do not fit

  • holes positioned in the wrong location

  • materials that cannot be assembled in the planned sequence

  • insufficient space for equipment or further bodywork

  • parts that need to be recut

A carefully developed CAD model allows the structure to be reviewed before manufacturing begins. This reduces the risk of misunderstandings, rework and unnecessary material waste.

Manufacturability and practical execution

A technical model should not only look good on the screen. It must also be possible to manufacture and assemble in practice. CC Metall AB combines CAD expertise with practical experience in metalwork, fabrication, welding, manufacturing and assembly.

From 3D model to manufacturing drawings

Once the 3D model has been reviewed, it can be used as the basis for more detailed manufacturing drawings. Depending on the project, the drawing documentation may include an assembly drawing, dimensioned views, detail drawings, sectional drawings, exploded views and welding information.

Delivery formats for workshops and production

Depending on the requirements of the project, drawings and models can be delivered in several different formats. Common delivery formats include PDF for review and DWG for further CAD work.

Structural drawings, calculations and manufacturing drawings

It is important to distinguish between different types of technical documentation. A manufacturing drawing shows how the individual parts are to be cut, processed, joined and assembled.

What types of projects can CC Metall AB assist with?

We produce CAD and manufacturing documentation for projects including trailers and trailer chassis. We can work from a hand-drawn sketch, a photograph, existing dimensions or an existing CAD model that has already been started. Digital collaboration with clients, workshops and projects throughout Europe is also part of our offering.

Do you need drawings for a trailer or steel structure?

Do you have an idea, sketch or existing structure that needs to be developed into a clear 3D model or manufacturing drawing? Send us a brief description together with photographs, dimensions and any existing documentation. CC Metall AB will contact you to discuss the project.
